I’m a copy editor and page designer for Shaw Media, based at the company’s Crystal Lake, Ill., office. I worked for Media General’s Consolidated Editing Center in Lynchburg, Va., for two years before moving to Illinois. I interned at the Daily Herald during the summer of 2008 and in December 2008.

I was homeschooled from preschool through high school, and continued my education at Moraine Valley Community College and Eastern Illinois University.

When I was a teen, my mother would tell me I needed to stop going to bed at 4 a.m. and start waking up early because that’s what I’d have to do as an adult. I didn’t get into newspaper copy editing just to prove her wrong, but it is a bonus. ;)
